Guillermo Martí Ceballos nace en Barcelona en 1958. Hijo del pintor paisajista Oriol Martí (alumno predilecto del pintor valenciano Juan Bautista Porcar), recibe desde muy joven de su padre las primeras enseñanzas en el mundo del dibujo y la pintura. En 1983 entra en la Escuela Massana de Barcelona realizando estudios de diseño gráfico . Destaca en la asignatura de dibujo y composición, y alentado por su maestro el pintor Ramón Noé, se dedica intensamente a profundizar en esta materia. Realiza numerosas copias de los grandes maestros del pasado (Velázquez, Hogarth, Gainsborough, Vermeer, etc).

En 1986 entra en el estudio de Pintura de los Artistas Boter y Santaló. Consolida con ello su formación académica, y después de pasar por una etapa impresionista, entra en contacto con los los colores más puros y la libertad de expresión. Descubre a los más coloristas, primero Van Gogh y Gauguin, después a los fauvistas (Matisse, Derain) y a los expresionistas alemanes (Macke, Kirchner, etc). Su paleta se transforma y el color local desaparece volviéndose más puro.

En 1987 entra a formar parte del Cercle Artistic de Sant LLuc y realiza numerosos estudios del natural y del desnudo femenino. Desde entonces Martí Ceballos permanece fiel a esta disciplina que le reportará gran cantidad de material para sus posteriores obras en su estudio.

Realiza algunas exposiciones colectivas (1996 Palau Robert) y sin abandonar su faceta como ilustrador gana algunos premios como cartelista (Festa Major de Gràcia, Arenys de mar, etc). En 2000 realiza en su primera exposición en solitario en Barcelona (Galería Kreisler) obteniendo un notable éxito de ventas y de crítica. Desde entones no cesa de exponer su obra en diferentes Galerías. En 2001 obtiene el segundo premio de pintura en el Cercle artistic de Sant LLuc y en 2004 el primer premio de dibujo en este mismo centro. Su obra está repartida en todo el territorio español y en países como Estados Unidos, Francia, Irlanda y Austria.

Su atrevida gama cromática junto a su elaborada síntesis de las formas, en la que destacan los temas urbanos con figuras, hacen que su obra resulte altamente personal, llena de fuerza expresiva y de una sensibilidad exquisita.

De tendencia figurativa, su estilo continua evolucionando hacia una mayor simplificación de formas, dibujando sus motivos con planos de color definidos que componen su espacio de trabajo. Una figuración, sin embargo, deformada por su propia óptica, de sensaciones más que realidades, transportando de esta manera al espectador, a una dimensión en que la realidad y la ficción se fusionan haciéndonos partícipes de su propio universo.

Guillermo Martí Ceballos was born in Barcelona in 1958. Son of landscape-painter Oriol Martí (favourite pupil to Valencia painter Juan Bautista Porcar), while still very young he receives his first lessons on the world of drawing and painting from his father. In 1983 he enters the Escuela Massana of Barcelona taking Graphic Design. He stands out in the subject of drawing and composition and, encouraged by his teacher painter Ramón Noé, intensely devotes himself deep into this subject matter. He does a great number of copies of the great masters of the past (Velazquez, Hogarth, Gainsborough, Vermeer, etc).

In 1986 he is admitted in the Painting Study of artists Boter and Santaló.  Thus he consolidates his academic formation and after going through an impressionist stage he comes across pure colours and freedom of expression. He then discovers the colourists, firstly Van Gogh and Gauguin, later the fauvists (Matisse, Derain) and the German expressionists (Macke, Kirchner, etc). His palette gets transformed and the local colour disappears turning into a purer colour.

In 1987 he joins the Cercle Artistic de Sant LLuc and does numerous outdoor as well as female nude studies. Ever since then Martí Ceballos has remained faithful to this discipline that would reward him with a great deal of material for his later studio works.

He takes part in some collective exhibitions (Palau Robert, 1996) and without dropping his illustrator facet he is awarded a number of prizes as poster designer (Festa Major de Gràcia, Arenys de Mar, etc). In 2000 he presents his first individual exhibition in Barcelona (Kreisler Gallery) with a remarkable success in sales and reviews. From then on he has not stopped showing his work at diverse galleries. In 2001 he is awarded the Second Prize for Painting from the Cercle Artistic de Sant LLuc and, in 2004, the First Prize in Drawing at the same arts centre. His work is spread about all over the Spanish geography as well as in such countries as the United States of America, France, Ireland and Austria.

His daring chromatic range together with his well devised synthesis of shapes, in which urban subjects with figures stand out, render his work a highly personal one, full of expressive strength and exquisite sensibility.

A figurative in his tendency, his style keeps evolving towards a major simplification of the shapes, drawing his motifs out of defined colour foregrounds that build up his working space. A figuration nevertheless deformed by his own optics, made up of sensations rather than realities, thus transporting the viewer to a dimension where reality and fiction entwines leading us to become a part of his own universe.
